Use this as a working guide, not a passive read. Skim the sections, copy the frameworks, then connect the advice to a real role, interview, call, or account you are working on this week.
HubSpot can make SDR work easier to inspect, but only when the team agrees on record ownership, lifecycle stages, sequence rules, and what qualifies as a handoff. Portal configuration varies, so treat this as an operating model rather than universal field instructions.
Prepare the Record
Check company and contact history, ownership, active deals, subscription status, and previous conversations. Add only verified details. Record the research signal and the reason this persona is relevant.
Use Tasks as Commitments
Every task should specify an action and reason: “Call CFO after pricing-page visit” is better than “Follow up.” Close completed tasks, reschedule intentionally, and avoid building an overdue queue that hides real priorities.
Use Sequences Without Losing Judgment
Enroll only contacts who fit the audience and stop automation when context changes. Personalize the opening around a verified signal. Review replies and bounces daily. A sequence is delivery infrastructure, not the strategy itself.
Respect Lifecycle and Lead Status Definitions
Know what subscriber, lead, marketing-qualified, sales-qualified, opportunity, and customer mean in your portal. Do not advance a record because the label sounds positive. Stage accuracy protects reporting and routing.
Build an AE-Ready Handoff
Summarize the trigger, current process, friction, stakeholders, timing, agreed next step, and unanswered questions. Link the relevant activity instead of forcing the AE to reconstruct the story.
