Use this as a working guide, not a passive read. Skim the sections, copy the frameworks, then connect the advice to a real role, interview, call, or account you are working on this week.
Logistics SaaS cold calls often encounter justified caution: operational systems are interconnected, workflows cross teams, data quality varies, and a poorly timed change can disrupt real work. The SDR's job is to earn a relevant next conversation, not promise transformation.
Response Framework
Use acknowledge → clarify → test relevance → propose a small next step.
“We already use a TMS or incumbent platform.”
“That makes sense. I am not assuming replacement. Which part of the current workflow, if any, still creates manual exception work—visibility, appointment coordination, carrier communication, or reporting?”
“Integrations will take too much effort.”
“Understood. Which systems and data flows would have to be protected for an evaluation to be worthwhile? I can bring the right technical person rather than guess.”
“Our data is not clean enough.”
“That may be the limiting factor. Is the issue missing events, inconsistent identifiers, latency, or ownership? If none can be addressed safely, a meeting may not make sense.”
“Peak season is not the time.”
“I hear that. Is there a planning window when the team reviews workflow changes, or should I close this out?”
“Send proof.”
“Happy to send an approved case study relevant to your operating model. Which outcome and environment would make it credible?”
Role-Play Scenario
Buyer: operations leader at a multi-site distributor. Hidden context: one recent service issue, an active systems project, and no approved budget. Seller objective: learn whether a later technical discovery is justified.
Scorecard
Score relevance, listening, operational judgment, claim accuracy, question quality, disqualification judgment, and next-step clarity. Deduct for invented savings, assumed integrations, fake urgency, or bypassing technical stakeholders.
